Ubud Full Day Tour: Monkey Forest, Barong Dance & Artisan Villages
Ubud sits at the cultural center of Bali. This full-day tour covers the region's most distinct experiences, from a sacred jungle sanctuary to a live traditional performance, a coffee plantation, local artisan workshops, and one of the oldest temples in the area. Your first stop is Ubud Monkey Forest, a protected jungle sanctuary home to over 700 long-tailed macaques. The forest holds three active Hindu temples dating back to the 14th century, set among roots and stone carvings along shaded paths. From there, you watch the Barong Dance, a traditional Balinese performance that depicts the ongoing battle between Barong, the spirit of good, and Rangda, the demon queen. Performers wear elaborate handmade costumes and masks, with gamelan music played live throughout the show. Mid-tour, you stop at a Coffee Plantation for a tasting session. Sample local teas and coffees, including Luwak coffee, in an open-air setting surrounded by plantation trees. Next, you visit Ubud's artisan villages. Each village specializes in a different craft: silver and gold jewelry in Celuk, batik fabric in Tohpati, wood carving in Mas, and traditional painting in Batuan. Watch artisans work and browse finished pieces directly at the source. The day ends at Batuan Temple, one of Bali's oldest active temples, built in 944 AD. The complex features dense stone carvings covering every surface of its gates and shrines, a style distinct to the Batuan village tradition.
